A planned disaster drill took place in Ladd on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Emergency vehicles from seven fire departments and seven ambulance services responded to a simulated train & school bus accident along the railroad spur. The Bureau County Command Vehicle was on the scene for communications, the Bureau County Sheriff Department Search & Rescue Team handled traffic control, Bureau County ESDA led a training session for Village officials, the Red Cross was in the Ladd Community Center to enact their disaster plan for sheltering, and a helicopter landed in Kennedy Park. The drill was coordinated by Lisa Clinton of Bureau/Putnam County Emergency Preparedness Community Partners.
The Recycle My Fridge program has been extended to May 2014. Ladd homeowners may call (877) 341-2313 toll free or visit the program's website www.RecycleMyFridge.org to schedule a free pick up of your secondary refrigerators and freezers and receive a $35 prepaid card. You must be a Village of Ladd residential electric customer with a valid account number to participate. Refrigerators and freezers turned in for recycling must be in working condition (cooling), 10-30 cubic feet, owned by you and picked up from the residential address listed on your utility billing account. The $35 rebate will be mailed within 4-6 weeks after collection. Limit of two appliances per household per year. The CCR includes basic information on the source(s) of your drinking water, the levels of any contaminants that were detected in the water during 2012, and compliance with other drinking water rules, as well as some educational materials.
